Environmental Awareness
In the event of growing concerns over the environmental problems across the globe, the importance of adoption of policies and programs aiming at building a harmonious relationship between the human activities and nature has increased. In the light of this, environmental awareness is assumed to be an important prerequisite necessity to initiate any program for environmental protection. In fact, awareness brings changes; develop right attitude and sense of co-operation; and responsibility towards environmental protection. Fostering environmental awareness is of great importance to enhance the understanding on effectiveness and responsiveness of environmental management policies among the masses, which ultimately strengthen the public perception and self-engagement in managing environmental issues. It is pertinent to note that unless accepted and participated by the common people, no environmental management plan can be successfully.
Pollution Control Board, Assam has been giving due emphasize on awareness building activities among the common masses – more specially amongst the students community, on various environmental issues across the State from the day of its inception. To achieve this objective, the Board has been organizing different activities, like –
