Mass Awareness Activities.
The environment that supporting the live system on the Planet including humans is seriously being abused by man over the last many decades in the name of economic development and comfort living. In fact, our planet is in serious trouble on many fronts like - pollution, global warming, climate change, wastes management, eco-systems degradation, habitat lost, depletion of natural resources, and on many more. At the time of posing a serious threat to the humanities by the problems arising out of environmental degradation, the importance of mass awareness on different environmental issues is paramount. In this context rising of awareness among the common mass regarding the significance of environment on our life as well as on our responsibility to protect the elements of environment can be an important tool for the protection environment. More importantly, awareness among the common mass on environmental issues also helps in implementation of various environmental management plans successfully by the government and its agencies. Keeping this view in perspective, Pollution Control Board, Assam has being emphasizing hard on awareness raising activities among the common mass – more specially among the students community, from the day of its inception on various environmental issues across the State as a part of its strategy to ensure a pollution free state of Assam. A note on the important mass awareness activities carried out by the Board were presented under the following sub-heads.
